General Preferences

Directory*

Select a default directory from the drop-down list.

Sending Application Name*

Enter the sending application name.

Sending Facility Name*

Enter the sending facility name.

Data Blanking

When selected:

If the client HL7 message sequence field contains double quotes "", the Interface Service deletes the data in that data field in the SQL table.

If the client HL7 message sequence field is empty, the existing data in the data field is left intact and not overwritten.

When cleared:

If the client HL7 message sequence is empty or contains double quotes "", the HIS Interface Service inserts a blank value in that data field in the SQL table.

Global Unique Identifier (GUI - Option #1)

Note: The Hospital ID, or institution-specific GUI, can be used as the Ordering Clinician's unique identifier.  This option uses the Application, Facility, ID Type, and ID value to determine whether to update the clinician's account information or create a new OC account.

Application*

Select an application from the list. (Create or edit an application from the Manage Application link.)

Select an ID type from the list. (Create or edit an ID type from the Manage Application ID Type Link.)

(NPI - Option #2)

NPI as Unique Identifier

Select to use the National Provider Identifier (NPI) as the Ordering Clinician's unique identifier in lieu of the GUI.  The National Provider ID field in the clinician's account information is validated by PDS, and when the value matches, PDS proceeds to update the existing account information with any new clinician data.

Notes:

The NPI cannot be duplicated within the assigned directory; however, the same NPI can be in multiple directories.

For existing customers wanting to switch from using the GUI to NPI, they must ensure the National Provider ID field in all clinicians’ account information profiles is populated with a valid NPI prior to switching. Otherwise, a duplicate provider will be created in the directory.

The NPI is located in the STF 2:1 HL7 MFN^M02 message and populates the National Provider ID field in the clinician’s account information.

Select Primary, Backup, and/or Fail-Safe (you can configure one, two, or three of these levels, but at least one is required). Choices for each device type include email, cell phone, mobile device, and others.

Device Preferences

Create default device when new profile added

With this check box selected, when a new OC is added through an MBS -Physician Directory Synch (or synch, for simplicity), the OC is automatically assigned the default device (or devices) in the Default Devices list (if the device information, such as email address, cell phone, and so on, was received from the institution’s single source of truth).

Create default device when new profile value is added

With this check box selected, when updating an OC profile during a synch, the system will add default notification devices if a new item is sent from the single source of truth. For example, assume an OC has no fax device listed in PowerConnect Actionable Findings. If a fax device is configured in the Default Devices list, and if we receive fax information during the synch, we will add the default fax device to the OC’s profile.

Update device values if any profile values are updated

With this check box selected, when updated device information is received from the single source of truth for an OC, the OC’s profile information and device (or devices) information are updated in PowerConnect Actionable Findings.

Default to document only if new profile is added without Device

With this check box selected, when a new OC is added through a MBS - Physician Directory Synchronization, and there is no device information available for the OC in the single-source-of-truth database, the OC's status is automatically set to Document Only.
